Three pieces inspired by three of my favorite songs by John Vanderslice. Pictured above is “The Minaret” from the album Emerald City. Below is “Coming and Going on Easy Terms” from Cellar Door and “Too Much Time” from Romanian Names.

Father of Lights

The second in the Scripture Picture series. The first being here.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

Annuals Jellyfish T-Shirt

One of two t-shirt illustration I have done for the band Annuals on Ace Fu Records. This one features 5 mice swaying desperately, yet peacefully, through the water on the tentacles of a jelly fish.

The second project I did for them can be seen here.

Deer Pants

This is one part of a personal project inspired by the many different ways one can read the Bible. I call them Scripture Pictures. For a long time I have been unable to read Psalm 42:1 without a little giggle.

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.”

Now how can I leave that alone? Unfortunately, it doesn’t work as well when reading from KJV. The humor is somewhat lost, as you can see.

“As the heart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.”

If you’re curious, Yes! there are most certainly more “Scripture Pictures” on the way. Like Father of Lights, for instance.

Galloping Cow

Michael is how I know him, but the online world knows him as Galloping Cow. Following a conversation we had one day where we discussed his ultimate goal to have a wax envelope seal made in his mobile bovine image, I thought I’d give him the next best thing, a galloping cow with shocking udders.

My next goal is to convince Michael to let me take Cantering Bovine as my online identity.

Annuals Crocodile T-Shirt

T-Shirt illustration for the band Annuals on Ace Fu Records.

This is the second of two shirts created for the band over time. See the “Jellyfish” illustration here.

Please to not email me telling me this is clearly an alligator. You’re probably right.
